No band, with little exception, has consumed as many drugs and as much booze without dying as the LA quartet Motley Crue. The story of their career (which they decided to tell in gory detail in their 2001 autobiography, The Dirt) is one of dirty needles, damaged minds and sex - all in excess. And the miraculous thing about the Crue is not that they lived to tell the tale (despite that being a sort of unholy miracle): it's that all of their wildly uncontrollable habits are clearly audible in their music.
In the 80's, Motley Crue tickets provided a rare first hand look into the world of Crue. By 1989 Motley Crue were a full-blown stadiums act, with all the freedom (big production budgets, a string of models and porn stars) and problems that this entails. Neil left the band in 1992 and it was Scream singer John Corabi that provided vocals for the 1994 album, Motley Crue, which attempted to match up to the angst and power of newer metal bands, and -- while it was a well made record by any standard -- failed to match the sales of its predecessors. However, by 1997, Vince was back and the Crue's fortunes revived.
With more than 40 million albums sold worldwide, Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee ARE Motley Crue. Motley Crue provided fuel for the 80's nightlife along the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, CA and are set to return to their old stomping grounds again in 2005 with their "Better Live than Dead" World Tour. After six years apart all four original members of the Motley Crue are back in concert. Now reunited for the first time in six years, the hardest rockers in the Biz are bringing you "Motley Crue: Red White & Crue Tour 2005…Better Live Than Dead".
