Les Liaisons Dangereuses
Synopsis & Storyline
For long-time friends and occasional
lovers Vicomte de Valmont and Marquise de Merteuil, love is simply a
game of chess. But in a few false moves, they're about to find
themselves locked in the ultimate checkmate. Filled with seduction,
betrayal, and plenty of illicit passion, Les Liaisons Dangereuses
paints the pre-Revolutionary French aristocracy in all its cynicism
and decadence.
Three-time Oscar nominee Laura Linney stars alongside London theater
favorite Ben Daniels in Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of
Christopher Hampton's dark comedy. The play premiered in 1987,
earning Lindsay Duncan and Alan Rickman Tony nominations for their
portrayals of the seductive main characters. Glenn Close and John
Malkovich starred in the 1988 film version, renamed Dangerous
Liaisons.
