Shrek The Musical Synopsis &
Storyline
Based on William Steig's novel and
Dreamworks' popular animated film, Shrek the Musical follows
the adventures of Shrek, a lovable swamp-dwelling ogre; his
wisecracking sidekick, Donkey; the lovely Princess Fiona; Lord
Farquaad and a chorus of everybody's favorite fractured fairytale
creatures. With more layers than ever and a completely original new
score, Shrek the Musical proves that there's more to the
story than meets the ears.
David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole) provides the book and
lyrics for Shrek the Musical, with a score by Jeanine Tesori
(Caroline, or Change) and direction by Jason Moore (Avenue
Q). The musical will come to Broadway after an out-of-town
tryout at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre from August 14 to September
21, 2008.
Don't be in a land "far, far away" when Shrek the Musical
hits Broadway this fall!
