Ticket Information
The vast majority of Super Bowl tickets (75%) are
distributed to the 32 NFL teams. 25% are controlled by the NFL and are
distributed primarily to NFL affiliated companies (NFL Properties, NFL
Films, NFL Players Association, etc.), the broadcast network, corporate
sponsors, media, VIPs, charities, and the Host Committee to package with
sponsorships. The remaining go to the participating teams, each of which
receive 17.5% of the tickets, the non-participating teams receive 1.1%. The
Miami Dolphins, as the host team, will receive less than 8.8%. Only
approximately 1% of Super Bowl tickets are available to the general public.
With tickets in such short supply, it is imperative to get your Super Bowl
42 tickets as early as possible.
University of
Phoenix Stadium Information
University of Phoenix Stadium
One Cardinals Drive • Glendale, AZ 85305
University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona is
home to the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL. The new stadium is located across
the street from Glendale Arena. The 63,500 seat stadium can expand to
72,800. It opened on August 12, 2006 when the Cardinals hosted the
Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cardinals won 21-13 in the preseason game. The
first regular season game will be September 10, 2006 against the San
Francisco 49ers. This will be the first time the Cardinals will play the
opening weekend of the NFL season at home since arriving in Arizona in 1988.
The new stadium will also be home to the annual Fiesta
Bowl and once every four years to the BCS National Championship Game. In
2008, it will host Super Bowl XLII. It is also scheduled to be the site for
the West Regional Finals of the 2009 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball
Tournament.
This new facility features a retractable roof that is 206
feet above grade and uses more than 100,000 square feet of Teflon coated
translucent fabric that allows light to pass through. The roof moves up and
down on an incline and is driven by a cable drum drive system. In order to
open the roof the cable is unwound and to close it the cable is recoiled. It
takes 15 minutes to open and close it.
It also features the first fully retractable natural
grass playing surface that was built in the U.S. The retractable playing
field is on a 19 million pound tray that sits on 13 rails. The stadium also
features oversized 30 foot tall parking lot identifiers outside of each
parking lot. The plaza surrounding the stadium is named the Pat Tillman
Freedom Plaza in memory of the former Cardinals defensive back who was
killed in action while serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan.
The stadium has 88 suites and now has a built-in
tailgating lawn, called Sportsman's Park, which is directly outside the
stadium.
